The Kirchners pledge to 'defend the national model'
Buenos Aires Herald
June 22, 2009
President Cristina Fern ndez de Kirchner affirmed that defending a national model does not mean to defend a sector or political party, but it is a "vote of self defense for the goals achieved."
Speaking at a rally at the New Hotel of La Fraternidad trade union, she promised to keep on fighting to "defend this national model based on the distribution of income for all to build a more fair Argentina."
She added that "conditions were generated in the last six years to create 4 million job posts and 2.000 new companies per year."
Former president Nestor Kirchner, who is also running for a seat in Congress called the Argentine people to "give a historical lesson with a clear, popular and national conscience" in next Sunday's midterm elections.
"We must show more courage than ever," he added when heading an act at Racing stadium along with Avellaneda Mayor Baldomero Alvarez de Olivera.
In his speech, Kirchner called citizens to "defend what's national, the principles of our middle class and of our workers, and to maintain the principles of justice and inclusion."
