Bloomberg

By Bill Faries

June 24 (Bloomberg) -- Argentina's industrial output fell 12 percent in May from a year ago because of slumping automobile and steel production, according to a Buenos Aires-based research institute.

Argentina's industrial production declined 12.6 percent in the first five months of the year from the same period a year earlier, according to the monthly report by the Latin American Economic Research Foundation, known as FIEL. On a seasonally adjusted basis, production was unchanged in May from April, the report said.

Argentina's national statistics institute said earlier today that industrial production fell 1.7 percent in May from a year earlier.
