Dec. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Argentina's opposition lawmakers may reject President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner's decree creating a fund with central bank reserves to pay $6.6 billion in debt, La Nacion said.
Congress is the branch of government responsible for deciding how the reserves can be spent, lawmaker Oscar Aguad, head of the Radical Civic Union party in the lower house, told the newspaper.
Eduardo Macaluse, a lawmaker from the independent Solidarity and Equality bloc, said the government should use the reserves to solve social problems instead of pay debt, according to the Buenos Aires-based newspaper.
Congress may begin debating the decree as early as March, when lawmakers resume their normal sessions, La Nacion said.
