Opposition moves towards rejection of Bicentenary fund decree
February 17, 2010

The Constitutional Affairs committee of the Lower House is ready to analyze the DNU emergency decree signed by President Cristina Fern ndez de Kirchner to create the Bicentenary fund after dissident Peronist lawmaker Graciela Caama o was named as the head of the committee.

The opposition forces counts with many members working on the aforementioned committee. One of them is Radical party's Ricardo Gil Lavedra, who was very eloquent about the DNU by saying: "It has to be approved by both the Upper and Lower houses, but in this case the decree was not necessary nor urgent so we are not going to pass it."

Centre-right PRO member, Laura Alonso supported Gil Laverdra's idea and claimed for the Cabinet Chief -An bal Fern ndez.- to "show up and discuss the matter along with the Constitutional Affairs committee."

Meanwhile, with the return of legislative activities, the Communications committee held its first meeting of the year in which the ruling-party lawmaker Silvia V zquez was appointed as the head of it.
