Argentine president says open to bill to tap reserves
BUENOS AIRES, March 9 (Reuters) - Argentina's president signaled on Tuesday she might support a congressional bill allowing her to use foreign reserves to pay debt, a move that could defuse political tensions over the controversial plan. Last week, President Cristina Fernandez revived her bid to tap more than $6 billion of foreign reserves, issuing two decrees that transferred the money to the Treasury. Her plan has stoked political tensions and pitted her against the courts and an opposition-controlled Congress that says she needs congressional approval to tap the money.
