WASHINGTON - Today, the American Task Force Argentina (ATFA) announced the launch of a tool on its website allowing Americans to express their concern about the impact of Argentina's sovereign debt default directly to Members of Congress.

By visiting ATFA's website, www.atfa.org , citizens can contact their elected representatives in the Senate and House of Representatives and urge them to hold Argentina accountable for its $100 billion sovereign debt default, the largest such default in history, and the harsh terms for its restructuring. The Congressional letter page is the latest tool on the ATFA website, which already serves as a comprehensive source of information and news related to Argentina's default.

"Ambassador Soderberg and I have deep concerns over Argentina's default and restructuring and the possibility that others in the region, such as Ecuador, will follow suit. Members of Congress can expect to hear directly from their constituents about their concerns as well," said ATFA Co-Chairman Robert Shapiro. "The impact of Argentina's default was felt well beyond Wall Street, costing American businesses, investors and retirees more than $10 billion," he added.

The letter highlights the sweeping impact of Argentina's unilateral restructuring and suggests that Members of Congress send a clear message to Argentina's Nestor Kirchner that his default tactics will not stand. The full text of the letter can be found at: www.atfa.org/act.

ATFA, through a variety of events and research initiatives, works to encourage the United States government and other Argentine debt stakeholders to take action on behalf of American taxpayers, businesses and bondholders. ATFA's website, www.atfa.org, serves as a clearinghouse for news and information related to Argentina's restructuring and the ATFA's efforts.

Made up of major creditor groups, the ATFA is co-chaired by The Honorable Robert J. Shapiro, former Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs in the Clinton Administration, and Ambassador Nancy Soderberg, Ambassador at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York from 1997 to 2001.
