Video Released on Eve of Argentine Delegation Visit to U.S. Trade Conference
WASHINGTON - Today, the American Task Force Argentina (ATFA) brought its message directly to the people and Government of Argentina by posting an internet video address by ATFA Co-Chair Dr. Robert Shapiro calling on Argentine President Nestor Kirchner and his Government to honor its $20 billion in delinquent debt and enter negotiations with its creditors.
The video was posted on YouTube and other internet video sites today, just as Finance Minister Felisa Miceli and Planning Minister Julio De Vido arrived in Atlanta for the Department of Commerce's America's Competitiveness Forum. In the first of an anticipated series of videos, Dr. Shapiro lays out ATFA's mission and initiatives, highlights Argentina's 9% GDP growth and record $40 billion in foreign reserves and notes that, in light of Argentina's current economic growth, "now is the time to act". The address continues:
" The American Task Force Argentina is working hard to ensure that our leaders understand the consequences of your decisions. Do not doubt our commitment to this effort. We will vigorously pursue all available avenues to motivate your government to honor its obligations, by galvanizing support and actions by the United States and other G7 governments, as well as international business and finance..."

ATFA, through a variety of events and research initiatives, works to encourage the United States government and other Argentine debt stakeholders to take action on behalf of American taxpayers, businesses and bondholders. ATFA's website, www.atfa.org, serves as a clearinghouse for news and information related to Argentina's restructuring and the ATFA's efforts.
Made up of major creditor groups, the ATFA is co-chaired by The Honorable Robert J. Shapiro, former Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs in the Clinton Administration, and Ambassador Nancy Soderberg, Ambassador at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York from 1997 to 2001.
